Okay this is light reading and fun and funny. Only 61 pages.

Female POV, pragmatic, 'talented', and adopted, after her mother who died giving birth to her, by her mother's friend. *GRINS* Adoptive mother is VERY protective and anxious as any mother but knows that her child needs to go out into the big bad universe to seek her fortune.
Mother is 'special', *wink wink nudge nudge*. She's a l’nal, a nine-foot member of the spider species. *laughing*

I enjoyed this. Wish it could have been longer and developed the other characters more, or at all, but after Mother was introduced *shrugs*, she kind of overshadows things but then you know how I feel about spiders.

No, you will not trick me into reading of a spider-species!!!
Wicked Charis.

Not one for me :p

I find those computer generated covers really off-putting.

*Innocent grin* 'Mother' is quite human normal in her interactions for the most part with her daughter the main character who is 'human' crossed with something else humanoid. And *GRINS* the other individuals do have some arachnophobia. The author plays with that aspect.

Yeah. The covers on all the books by her I've seen are like this.

But Nora Roberts has a new book out The Liar which I requested from the library and then teased myself reading the excerpt on Amazon... don't know if I should heads up the author about that as it's a really long excerpt, pretty much the whole book it seems with odd parts cut out AND they included the !Epilogue! I don't know if I need to read the book, as I kind of already did.

That's really odd, perhaps you should send her a message.
Heard mixed reviews of the the book - Not read Nora for ages but have rather a lot of her books, damn she's prolific :)

Remember seeing someone who wasn't sure if they'd like her writing and she jumped in to tell them to try the library or cheap second-hand rather than paying-out (before ebooks were such a thing) I thought it was nice.

Went to her website and left a message about the really large amount of the story and the Epilogue being included in the excerpt posted on Amazon. She won't read it herself but her person in charge of reader correspondence will have it land in her email box.

Who knows maybe the book excerpt was meant to be done that way. A hidden gift to readers. *grins*

It was pretty expensive for the Kindle version though. Could have bought the Hardbound used, and how used could it be really for the length it's been available in stores, for half the price and then I'd have the actual physical book.

*Snickers* Wh-Y?

Do you know how to fend off a giant spider (not Mother) who makes aggressive fang chattering at you during a friendly translation for merchants trying to work a trade negotiation? IF I remember correctly you poke two fingers into a place between one set of their eyes. hmmm I could be wrong. Think it's something like punching a shark on its nose with a fist.

You sure you don't think you'll want to read it?
