You'd have to really like the taste of sweetened condensed milk.
I made an easy recipe for caramel sauce once (one can sweetened condensed milk, remove wrapper, submerge in hot crock pot for several hours). The result was prefect consistency, delicious-looking color, and great caramel overtones. But the distinct taste of the sweetened condensed milk overpowered everything.
