Yet in the school's Library book, The story of Soccer by Anastasia Suen, it’s referred to as:
"This ancient Roman artwork shows a man and child playing a ball-kicking game."
The Roman photo of the artwork has both child and man dressed in vertically striped tunics that cover all the important areas.


Romans liked to copy Greek art so it may be that to fit the mores of the Roman culture they altered some aspects of the original, though they were not prudes, the U.S. publishers of books meant for students 11 to 14 years of age definitely are.
Still, you'd think that they would have found a better description than 'ball-kicking' game. What are they teaching the children again??
I can see why someone might have photoshopped the original artwork if they were going to give it that caption.
