A crusty yellow swelling appeared under his arm, hot and tender to the touch. He bought several large adhesive bandages suitable for children’s wounded knees and some pharmacist recommended ointment for boils with advice to see a doctor. The adhesive caused itching bumps and he decided to go shirtless for a few days. Fresh air might help.
On day three he called in sick to work with fever and his body felt bloated, puffy in appearance. The spores burst forth the next day from his rotting body, wafting on the air through the window and to their next victims.
