Etzlaub remembered when he was young and innocent. Pulling playful pranks with his brothers, getting into trouble together.

Specifically the one time, when they had discovered boxes in the attic, that had clearly belonged to his father Brian. They had mistakenly thought that because Brian had been a soldier, he had known nothing of magic.

Brian broke the spell, grinning evilly, two weeks later. They´d had to study like mad to make up for all they had missed in school and Bazaar had a tousled and satisfied smirk on his face. Leave it to Brian to stow away active Timing-Traps

comment: Etzlaub is one of the kittens of Bazaar, Brian and Duke, used with Charis' permission ^_^

Inspired by watching the bunny hopping championship, Etzlaub allowed his human to participate, in bunny form of course. He liked the long jump, but judging by the scratching his human gave him, his human was a little less delighted at his succes as a rabbit.
When he transformed his lover back to his human form, Etzlaub discovered a nice side effect of the transformation. Apparently, other rabbit characteristics had stuck.
Etzlaub delighted in it, giving and receiving all night long, that hop and bounce of a different nature.
When he grabbed his humans’ ass, discovered a fluffy tail still there.

Wizard world Etzlaub 2

“Here kittykittykitty” he whistled aggravatingly. Etzlaub glared at him from the trees. His human better learn some manners if he wanted to keep him around. He swished his tail from side to side for good measure.
His siblings might have chosen different paths, but Etz really liked being in his familiar form. The barbs had some added advantages, and being a powerful wizard in his own right, meant that he could transform his human any time to a form more agreeable to him.
When he pounced, his human mewled and yelped, then pleaded for him to finish what he started.

Etzlaub 3

As Etzlaub lay bound to the bed he glared at his human. “how dare you do this to me, your master!” He growled. His partner just smirked “I admit it was not easy finding a way to bind a wizard as powerful as you. But you kindly provided so much semen yesterday, I just had to use it. Isn’t this fun?!” The way he said that sent shivers through Etzlaub.

And to think just yesterday he had stood up to Balthazar, one of his fathers, telling him his human was properly trained and everything. He was never living this down.

Ezechiel was staring at his familiar lover. The slitted cat eyes were fixed just as intently on him.
Then his eyes shifted to the bundle of Etzlaubs work gear. “Are you going on project again?” He hadn’t meant to whine. He just didn’t like his lover leaving for a long period of time. He just had gotten used to his furry warm lover sharing the bed. That was it!
Etzlaub sighed “Yeah, we’re mapping the ley lines around Grye area. There’s some magic fluctuations involved.” “Show you how much you’ll miss me?” Etzlaub growled as he pushed Zech into missionary.

Ezechiel looked at the wall. He was turning into a joke. He couldn’t even achieve his seeing trance any more. Etzlaub had only been gone a week and he already missed him more than life. There had been a missive from the Elders. Mercad had told him to not expect Etzy home for a while.
All at once, there was a pull and there he was in the familiar landscape of his trances. Only now, Etzlaub was there with him. He was pulled to a rumbling chest “Silly human. You shouldn’t try so hard. You’ll block me out you know!”

Etzlaub 6
word count: 1149

Ezechiel embraced his lovers image in his trance, feeling his dream skin move against his own. “What’s wrong?” He could sense his lover’s unease, even if he was being playful. But the playfulness felt a bit forced. Etzlaub frowned “You’re not supposed to pick up on that!” he scolded. Zech grinned and pinched his lovers’ dream skin “Just tell me, quick!”

Etzlaub took a deep breath and recounted “We found whole layers of Earth Energy shifting, changing the leylines and their magical energy distribution. We fear that someone is forcing the Earth Dragon to move, shifting the Magic away from us, disturbing the balance. Like last time.” He didn’t need to finish. Zech remembered the images of the last Mage Wars all too well.

“I need your help!” At the vehement admission of Etzlaubs, Zech startled. Etzlaub needing his help meant big big problems. Etz was pretty powerful on his own. How could his Magical Familiar Geomantic Wizard lover need him, a mere human seer, for help?

His lover’s trance image gathered him closer and whispered in his ear “come here quick, find father.” a kiss to his ear and the trance ended.

Zech was promptly sucked into a new trance. This one True. A shady room, dark dealings. A basket of just born kittens on the table, mewling pathetically. Money was being dealt, while the still blind kittens were getting restless and cold. To his Seeing Eye, he knew this were familiar kittens, their potential power already crackling through the air.
Then a figure strode into the room. A distinct voice boomed, though he couldn't make out features because of the black hood and mantle that shrouded him. "Kill them all!"

His blood ran cold. He frantically searched for signs of probability. Was there a way to stop this path?
Looking through the Strands of Probability, Zech tried to steer his vision to a point where this course of events might be prevented. What he saw shook him into action. It was not too late!

Struggling to come out of the Trance, he immediately contacted Balthazar, his lovers father wizard. He had no idea if there was a conjurer in the family, but he had gotten the impression that was what he should be looking for. He had to get to Etzlaub quick, to warn him and to change the course of destiny, before the whole Plain of Existence, or worse, their whole family, was wiped away.

*

Balthazar looked at him with slight disdain. The knight Brian was sitting in a chair next to him, his tummy unnaturally large. When it moved, he saw that it was not his belly, but Duke, Etzlaub’s third dad. Zech sighed at his own stupidity. To mistake one of his lovers fathers for a kitten filled stomach must be a side effect to the emotional trauma the last Trance had induced.

“Well?” Balthazar started “What was so urgent you had to see us immediately?” His voice dripped with barely conceiled displeasure. Zech must have interupted some very important business.

Quickly, he told the powerful wizard what Etzlaub had told him. “And why didn’t Mercad come to us, hm?” “I don’t know sir. All I know is that it’s urgent! Etzlaub needs me!”

Balthazar murmered “Just like his last lover needed him, yes? To bind his power to his own and make him a mindless helper for his Human machinations?” The word ‘human’ he almost spat out. Knight Brian cringed slightly at hearing it, Familiar Duke sweapt his tail across his neck with a seemingly soothing motion. Then he got up and bumped his head against the man’s chin before circling his lap and laying down again.

Zech didn’t know what to say, he hadn’t expected such resistance. And Etzlaub hadn’t mentioned anything about his previous lover, except that he had started out as a nice feisty thing that turned sour pretty quick. Zech had stayed clear of the subject since then, used to knowing only what needed to be known and letting the Flow of Knowing fall over him, like the visions that couldn’t be forced.

When Arcano flew in with Mercad hot on his heals, he couldn’t believe the chaos that erupted. Brian began shouting why he wasn’t in school, only mildly sympathetic because Arcano was there.

Apparently Mercad wasn’t designated an assignment with his mentor right then and there. Balthazar silenced them all with a word, Duke had leapt from Brian’s lap when Mercad had gotten in.
Now, the powerful wizard stood in the centre, Familiar on his shoulders. “Listen and behold! Quiet now. Mercad has reason to be here.”

Mercad looked at Zech and back at his father. “So has he. Why haven’t you prepared a circle yet? Hasn’t he explained?”

Zech sprang up. “He didn’t want to listen to me. He accused me of being like Etzlaub’s last lover.”

“That twit?” spat Mercad “Ezechiel here is nothing like that worm!” Mercad pulled Zech to Arcano’s side, as if protecting him from his fathers’ wrath. One look at Arcano had the Necromancer going to the work room, pulling Zech behind him. “We’re borrowing your work room dads!” Mercad announced to his fathers. “I’ll explain in a minute. Maybe you could consider getting Erhard here too?”

Before the workroom door shut in his face, Zech noticed that Familiar Duke jumped from the wizards shoulders to the knight’s shoulders and the redfaced human soldier seemed calmer after that. Pity he couldn’t hear what the familiar had said to calm them down.

*

All hell had broken loose in his house since Etzlaubs new lover had come by. He had fallen out in a bad way with his previous one. Etzy had seemed happier lately, before the council had ordered him to Grye. Brian frowned. He had a nagging feeling of something Big and Bad hanging in the air and although largely unused, he still trusted his warrior instincts.

The same when he had felt something Bad hanging around Warne. He still hadn’t figured that one out, since Warne seemed genuinly gentlemanly interested in Ranel.

Now one of his older kittens was asking him to pull one of the younger ones out of school, to help? What shit was that? If there was any danger, he wanted his kittens as far away from it as possible!

But Etzlaub seemed smack right in the middle of it.

Duke jumped on his shoulder. “Maybe we need all the kittens together to help keep Etzlaub safe?” He purred in his ear. Not fair. He knew Brian couldn’t resist him when he started purring. It reminded him of their cat-escapades when Duke was lodged deep and barbed inside of him and the purring took the rhythm of the barbs. His body just automatically melted without intervention of his brain.

He sighed and conceded, when even Bazaar joined Dukes side and strode to the Mirror to summon all kittens home.

Etzlaub 7 The Ley Lines at Grey

There had been some debate as to summoning the partners of said kittens too. In the end Duke put his Regal Paw down and just happened to mention casually that it was because of the mentors they were kept out of trouble AND learning what they should. And that they should treat this as a learning experience as well, instead of a life threatening exercise.

Brian was still fuming over the possibility of someone willing to hurt his kiddies and it was all Bazaar could do to stop him from donning his fighting gear and storming off.

When they were all gathered around the big table that had been specially brought into the work room from the dining room, Bazaar sat at the head, with Duke on his shoulders and Brian slightly to his right, behind him. Arcano was there, Mercad sitting close. Elias sitting with Vestor on his lap. Gilles and Elliot were holding hands under the table. Warne was there too, sitting next to Ranel. Ranel looked as if he wanted to sit on Warne’s lap, but Warne shot him a warning look, glancing at Brian, who was temporarily distracted with Erhard loudly declaring innocence of some mischief. Amur was sitting quietly reading, which was clouding the fact that he heard every single word said around him.

When Theogrin and Warren entered, Amur lay his book to the side. Warren wobbled slightly from the exertion of sending Zech to Etzlaub. It shouldn’t have been so difficult. They were ready to be bonded, so the connection between Zech and Etzy was there. That they couldn’t do ‘Familiar Refuge’ was still considered normal since they hadn’t officially bonded, but that they would need TWO conjurers to bring them together, and have the most powerful (if under-trained) of them sweating, was strange. Very strange.

They talked at length about everything; all that Zech had told them, all that they knew and didn’t know. And the strange magical forcefields that seemed to lay over everything, preventing the flow from going smoothly through.

Hopefully, the powerful combination of expertise and magical prowess of this family, would wield some answers.

*

Zech stumbled as he arrived at Etzy’s side. Etzlaub was sitting on his haunches, clutching his head, no eyes for the lover he sent for so urgently. Zech was immediately alarmed and rushed to his love’s side.

As soon he touched his Familiar Wizard, a wordless communication flowed through him. “I’m so glad you’re finally here!” Etzlaub’s voiceless words were weak, like he was using most of his strength elsewhere.

“What do you need from me?!” Zech offered all of himself to his lover. Etzlaub sighed his relief.

Zech felt the magical anchors settle into his magical energy field. As he had learned in ‘dealing with Familiars, Advanced class’ he pulled the anchors as deep as he could comfortably handle. Immediately, he felt a steady thrum of energy exchange to his lover, as if he was replenishing from him.

The sun set and gave a brilliant display of oranges and reds as it came up again. Zech felt tired and strangely buzzing at the same time.

He didn’t understand what was happening, but as the inquiry from the family came to him, he jumped at the chance. “Hey Zech, do you need assistance? We can’t get through to Etzy.”

“Please send all assistance you can spare. We need boosters and anchors and maybe he could use earth mages too?” Zech had no idea what specialities ran in the family, but he figured they would know better anyway.

Time had no meaning where he sat with his lover bound to him. He felt more than saw the sparkles that signaled the arrival of more help.

He felt a hand land on his shoulder and a steady stream of energy pulsed through him. A wordless hello signalled that it was Erhard who lent him his energy.

Suddenly, a violent Trance gripped him forcefully. He leapt into it. He felt reasonably safe to delve deeply and not lose himself, while Erhard leant him a steady flow of raw power.

He felt the Powerful Pull of the Trance, but he couldn’t reach it, no matter how hard he fought to reach it. He felt blocked out somehow. Then, he felt a Force land on his shoulders and the Veil fell away.

He saw a big landscape, with hills filled with purple heather. Dead trees lined the circumference. Smack in the middle stood three large trees, surrounded by many many other smaller trees. On a different hill, opposite the three trees, stood a large stone circle, crackling with power. Many lightning bolts were directed at the small forest of trees. Some snaking around the borders, some coming directly from above. When the ground under the trees started shifting, Zech had seen enough. He struggled from the grip of the powerful vision.

Again, the force on his shoulders seemed to help him, smooth things over.

Just before the vision ended, he spotted a lone figure just beside the stones, feeding black energy into the circle.

Suddenly, he was wide awake again, nothing like the usual gradual transitions. When he felt the rough tongue of Familiar Duke on his ear, he shivered from the unpleasant cold and painful sensation.

He panted and had to cough twice to get rid of the ache in his throat, then he looked at the big cat on his shoulders and thought at him, projecting his feelings and sense of urgency.

Duke leapt from his perch behind his neck and with a powerful stride, he intercepted Bazaar, who was already on his feet. The silent conversation went on without him and he fell into steadying the flow of energy for Etzy again.

Now that Erhard was here, he felt more sure he could give his lover what he needed. But what was it that had him expending so much energy? What was it that had triggered that Vision and what was going on? He felt a little lost and very small. He concentrated on helping his lover, he knew he could handle that.

*

Duke had gotten the complete vision from Zech, he was glad he’d come behind Erhard. When he saw his son’s seer trying to descend in a vision and be blocked, he had immediately jumped in. As a Familiar, he was used to helping with trances and visions. Even so, the blockage had taken a bit of trouble to get around, as if someone had spelled it so nothing could get through. His hair stood on end and his whiskers tingled. Something big was up and the vision would help them sort out what.

Jumping up on Bazaar's shoulders, they signalled Theogrin to send them back home, where Warren had set up a Jump Gate. With all the magical interference, it was hard to get anything done without extra expenditure.

Etzlaub 8

There was a discussion going on at the table of the house that had been turned into Headquarters.

All kittens were detained from school until the current crisis would be solved. No risks at begetting new litters OR getting stolen themselves. The visions had been clear enough on the risks involved.

When Warne joined in with the Father Trio in figuring out the meaning of those visions and Arcano put his insight with them, together with Mercad, they thought they had figured it out somewhat. There was always a margin for error with Divination, but with the combined strength and experience of them all, they were reasonably sure.

Warne then went with Ranel to help Etzlaub calm the raging Earth Dragon that had him give his all just to prevent it from destroying them all. Ranel had exhibited an unknown talent for the Earth Magics and under the encouraging eyes of his Big not so mean Cat Lover, he would be sure to shine.

Soon, they had the whole family back home. Etzlaub was held close by Zech, as he was completely depleted of magical energy. Brian put a big steaming pot of Replenishment Tea on the table, courtesy of Elias and Vestor.

Warren was then asked to do one more Fetch, Mercad showing him the whereabouts of the person he would get. Erhard had still some power left, so he went with him, together with Papa Bazaar, to give extra energy, while Warne would stand by to undo any blockage, in conjunction with Papa Duke.

Gilles and Elliot would mask the presence of all present except Etzlaub, giving the summoned one the illusion of security. And they agreed the illusion would need to show a different place than their house.

*

Cherno was taken from his house in the middle of a complicated spell-casting. The protection circle he had drawn was abandoned, all his layers of blockades and hazards were bypassed. He landed in the middle of a meadow, air shimmering in the heat as his former lover and reason for all said precautions, stood before him.

“Hi” The bastard Familiar said calmly.

Cherno was immediately on alert. Had he figured him out? He must have had, why would he have summoned him otherwise? Was he ready to forgive him, or was he about to be punished?

Etzlaub smiled wryly “Hi Cherno! Long time no see.” Cherno just nodded and gulped. He had all his magical defences up,all that he knew anyway. He had gotten the Council to agree and help with his plans, but since Etzlaub had whisked him away out of his lab, he was on his own. And realising fast how puny his Magic really was next to Etzlaub.

Etzlaub’s wry smile turned into a wily grin and Cherno wanted to flee. Might as well tell Etzlaub the truth before he was permanently turned into a mouse or a frog. Could he even do that to him anymore, now that they were no longer lovers?

Cherno puffed up his chest and gathered his courage. “You played with me!”

Etzlaub grinned some more “That’s what cats do with tasty morsels!” Cherno imagined he could hear him purr.

“You never intended to Bond with me, did you?”

“I would if I hadn’t found out you were more in love with my power than with me!”

“You changed me into a rabbit!”

“So? We both enjoyed the weeks of fun until the after effects wore off, didn’t we?!”

“I hopped and skipped to school because I couldn’t walk!”

“So? Nothing but your pride got hurt, didn’t it? Are you so weak that you can’t handle a little humiliation for the sake of love?” Etzlaub’s eyes had gotten a dangerous gleam now.

“No!!! My pride is all I have! Your power is part of who you are, isn’t it?!”

“That’s no reason to attack my family!”

“It was necessary to make you understand my pain!” Cherno was wailing now.

“Tell me about your pain now.” Etzlaub purred low and dangerous. Cherno was too far gone to spot the trap.

“You wouldn’t have listened to me, wouldn’t you, if I hadn’t gotten the council involved? If I can’t have your power, than no one is going to have your power! Your family shares your power, is a big part of your power. So I wanted, no, I needed to take that away from you. To make you understand how I feel!”

“Hurting my family is not acceptable. Involving innocents is contemptible!”

“Involving the Earth Dragon was the Councils’ idea! As soon as I convinced them that your family was on it’s way to make a bid for power, they took it out of my hands! I couldn’t help it?!”

Cherno thought he heard a growl from thin air, but he was too lost in his own emotions to pay it any mind.

“My family only wants to live in peace and enjoy Family Life! However did you get to council to think otherwise?”

“Your family is crazy! Anyone with as much power as You lot would be out of your mind NOT to make a bid for power. The council understands that and wanted to stop you before you got even stronger. The second litter is well on its way to getting educated! And one of them is even eyeing a Wizard that was about to become a Council member!”

“Enough!” A stronger, older voice cut in. Cherno was confused as the illusion fell away around his ears and he finally saw that he was sitting in Etzlaubs living room, instead of a sunny meadow. It had been the best illusion he had ever seen and thought to himself that this family could lie all it wanted about not wanting power. They HAD power and were using it to trick him!

He lashed out with all the binding spells he had with him. Immediately, two wizards stepped forward. One, Etzlaubs Wizard father, blocked his spells easily with a flick of his wrists, while the other, an older gentleman, mumbled some words. Cherno screamed as he felt his Magical powers drain away.

*

Bazaar nodded appreciatively at Warne. That kind of spell required a good deal of knowledge and control and careful preparation. Ranel’s suitor had just gotten another point of approval in his book.

Then he smiled cruelly at his Etzlaubs first lover. “Son, I do hope your taste has improved and this has been a learning experience for you!”

“Yes father” Etzlaub mumbled demurely, looking at the floor.

He spat at the cringing Cherno. “You are beneath contempt! You will know what it feels like to have the wrath of the most powerful family of the known world on your shoulders!” He then nodded at two unseen characters, who swiftly took a screaming Cherno away.

Brian looked at the scene with his warrior’s eye “What will happen to him?”

“He will meet justice!” Was the only thing Bazaar said. Brian just nodded. He knew his lover might be twisted sometimes, but when it came to his family, they all had the same sense of justice.

Brian then surveyed his gathered family. All had a drained look, but there were edges of satisfaction seen on every single one of them. He smiled proudly. “Come you lot! Let’s rest and celebrate!”

Every single kitten and wizard nodded in agreement. All were proud to be part of this powerful family. They had all had their share in turning this potential disaster around. All had plenty of reason to be proud of themselves and each other.

As they filed away, Bazaar took Warne aside. “Say, could you please tell me what that one thing was about?!”

Warne contemplated ignorance for a moment, but thought his future father in law deserved the truth.

“The council attempted to have me spy on you. As reward, they offered to make me a member.”

Bazaar nodded as if he knew (or at least had guessed) that already.

“They failed.”

“Why?”

“You would ask?” Warne sounded genuinely surprised. “Just look at that wonderful black kitten there.” A soft gleam had entered his eyes as he gazed admiringly at Ranel. Who was watching them back from under his lashes.

Bazaar snorted and commented as if to himself “Yes, well, I know the lengths a wizard will go to, to get his lover. I understand.” Upon which he clapped Warne’s shoulder a little bit too hard and walked over to his own lover and his familiar, who had become the foundation of his life and family.

Life was good, and no one was going to take that away from him. Not even an entire foolish Council.

*

In the period after this, the Elders in all their wisdom found enough causes to disband the Council and installed a new Assembly as their co-rulers. The instigators of the Earth Dragon Plan amongst the Council were found and judged, harshly. The other Council members strangely disappeared from the public eye, silently.

Kitt-napping was ruled a more serious crime than ever before and the gangs that dealt this trade were hunted down and judged severely.

For a while there, the World and the Family could live in relative peace. As peaceful as a house full of mischievous kittens could get anyway.

Etzlaub was spread out all over the rug, determined to cover as much of the house as possible. He was home, whole and tired.

And, after a few weeks of enforced rest, annoyed. Yes, he had Calmed the Earth Dragon, but he had payed dearly for that.

Too tired to get any. Even too tired to think about it. That had shocked him the most.

Zech had taken unfair advantage and had started prancing around half naked.

At long last, he was rested enough to plan ahead! Zech should have seen the twinkle in his eyes, when Etzlaub finally pounced.

Prompt: 081_introduce_bees_stories

Zech snuggled closer to Etz, snoring slightly. So he couldn’t see the stupid smile on Etzlaub’s face.

During his enforced rest, his siblings had taunted him, swarming to his bed like bees, recounting the stories of Grye that grew with every telling. He’d hated feeling so totally depleted.

He’d rested enough to last a lifetime. Now, he wanted to catch up playing. He couldn’t wait to introduce Zech to bunny play.

But, he had learned from the Cherno debacle. He would ask Zech if he’d mind, explaining the added benefits of the fluffy tail. And take a few weeks off.

And so Saskia wrote pregnant cuddly kitten fic
http://saskia399.livejournal.com/38805.html#cutid1

Zech rubbed Etzlaub's stomach, inducing a nice, deep rumble.

"Aren't you getting a little flubby?" Zech asked shyly, expecting his beloved to explode at any moment.
But Etzlaub just stretched his legs a little further, exposing his tummy more fully.

This allowed Zech to more seriously spot the bulge that didn't used to be there. Softly rubbing over it, he expected it to be bubbly and soft, but actually, the bulge was a little firmer than he had expected.

A suspicion was forming in Zech's mind, given the talk they had had at Etz's parents house about Ranel's "condition".

Bending over his lover, he husked in his ear "Are you pregnant my dear?" Upon which Etzlaub transformed into his human form, grabbed Zech with those convenient opposable thumbs and kissed him silly.

Pregnancy becomes Him
http://saskia399.livejournal.com/39248.html?view=327248#t327248
Etzlaub was purring. Ever since Zech had found out he was pregnant, he had been seeing a completely different side of his lover. He had been given so many tummy rubs, he felt the tickle of his lovers fingers even while he wasn't there.

Rolling around in the grass, languidly enjoying the sunshine and generally being his catlike lazy, he waited for his lover to return home from work. It took too long. It seemed like his workdays had increased in length, even while Zech assured him he kept getting home earlier and earlier.

Falling asleep in the grass, Etzy dreamed of plots to keep his lover chained to the house, or better yet, his bed.

But then, he couldn't display those wonderful bouts of dominance. Etzlaub had discovered, to his delight, that he absolutely adored being cuddled and dominated by Zech. All the more, because he was cuddly dominating, taking care of Etzlaub and forbidding him to do ANYTHING, since he was pregnant. Apparently, pregnant familiars were supposed to be lazy sloths letting other do the work, and the walking and the anything, really.

Etzlaub grinned. He could get used to living like this!
*
Zech wondered what had come over Etzlaub since his pregnancy. He'd never before allowed him to cuddle him and spoil him. Etzlaub usually was the dominant party in their relationship, but now, he was just letting Zech call the shots.

The gleam in Zech's eyes made people step to the side around him. He'd already made plans....satin brushes for tummy rubs and exotic accessories for later bedroom pleasures now filled his bag.

Zech could hardly wait to become a father, but first, he would enjoy this new side of Etzlaub with everything he had!
