This quilt is made with half square triangles and half rectangles.
Half rectangles block
Use 10" square, cut in half to equal 2 rectangles
This produces 2 half rectangle blocks.
two rectangles one print or color and other background color.
Draw line diagonally from corner to corner; top left to bottom right.*
Place this rectangle so that line is diagonally angled to go from corner to corner atop 2nd rectangle.
Sew 1/4" on both sides of drawn line.
Cut apart on drawn line.
*Draw line diagonally from corner to corner for mirror image; top right to bottom left.
Continue as with above directions.
Half Square Triangle block
Use 10" square, cut in half to equal 2 rectangles
Equals 4 half square triangle blocks 4 1/2"
Turn rectangle sideways, length goes from right to left.
Draw line at mid-point = 2 squares -- you could cut on this line now or leave and cut after sweing.
Draw line from corner to corner of these squares with points touching on either top of bottom of the mid-point line.
Sew on either side of the diagonal lines
Cut apart on all of the drawn lines.
Assemble Block
Sew Half Square Triangle to Half Rectangle
Sew Mirror image Half square Triangle to Half Rectangle
Then sew these two together matching the seams at center to make Kite Block.
Square to 8 1/2" X 13 1/2"; 8" x 13" finished. This is 4 1/4" from top and side seams
Quilt Size: 88 " x 94" (9 across x 6 down = 54 blocks)

• ¾ yd. Inner Border
• 1¾ yds. Outer Border
• ¾ yd. Binding
• 8 yds. Backing or 3 yds. 108" wide
