Made the mistake of leaving my anti-virus (Norton) doing a full computer scan and with the Works program open. came back a few hours later. Tried to close the writing program and it didn't. Pulled up the Task Manager and told it to close the program, it said it did but the thing was staring at me and the tower blinking light was not doing anything. Too the Task Manager wouldn't go away. The Norton closed just fine. Moved the Task Manager and it acted like an eraser taking the screen down to my desk top picture but without icons. I waited and waited and finally turned off the tower in a hard reboot. When it came back on it had to wait forever between each little internet requiring command.
So ran clean disk, defrag, and another full scan then pushed the little if you think there are still unresovled problems at the bottom of the Norton screen. Chose the deep scan program to download. The instructions said it might remove parts of programs that were legitimate so think carefully. I chickened and it did it anyway.
I'm back to my little speedy internet connections and even the color on the monitor looks better, yes there's still no green or red, I get variations of blue and golds. Really love the torquouise and the lighthouse with waves crashing over top on my desktop I like better. *grins* such is life.
