There was a feeling of homecoming as she fit the key into one of the glass doors. Behind the glass was darkness lit with squares of light from the opposite side of the large room from the smaller secondary door and from the stained glass paintings of the windows along the side wall.

She took a moment standing in that quiet hushed dark savoring being alone with this, one of her first loves. Pale flat shadows marked out where the tables lined up in their rows and in the background was the heart of this room, the shelves of books.

Book rec because I'm crying over this and I want company

Only just bought this on Kindle and read only a little bit it so far.
At first it seemed youngish in the writing and then the story gets its teeth into you.
Maybe it's that there's a new baby in the offing in the famiy or maybe it's because of those teeth but I've been wiping tears.
