80" x 86" 9 blocks X 10 blocks (12 sashing rows)
3 pack of 5" squares (charm packs)
1 roll of 2 1/2" strips (cut 5" long)
2 3/4 yd background and for inner border fabric
1 1/2 yd outer border
5" charm square colored fabric
5" small square background
5" x 2 1/2" strip dark
5" x 2 1/2" strip light
Background fabric - Fold background fabric with salvages together and Cut parallel to salvages.
1 1/2" squares background need 34 (to cut into 880 strips)
2 1/2" squares background need cut 7 (to equal 110 strips)
Sashing
2 1/2" strips cut into 5" long. (to equal 220) + 4 (2 1/2" square) for corners of outer sashing.
snowball with 1 1/2" squares on all four corners.
Assemble:
Sew sashing to charm square. repeat with another sashing and charm square. Do these individually. So you have a pile of sashed squares.
Sew 2 1/2 background square to sashing. Flip to snowballed sashing's side so you can make sure that seam goes through where sashing's snowball point seams join.
Row starts with a sashing row and ends with a sashing row.
For the outer rows cut a sashing in half to make exterior points of star, completing stars.
Sew 1/2 sashing then rectangle the 1/2 sashing for the exterior of rows
Sew 2 1/2" squares to corners of outer sashing.
2 1/2" inner border background fabric.
5" outer border.
