It look a lot of rehearsals, a few sprained ankles, a yanked tail, a few yanked something elses!
A lot of scruffy kittens missing curfews, sharp questioning parents and grandparents scenting trouble.

It was going to be glorious.

And it was. Their parents left and they sneaked in gathering all that that'd need. Lost an hour de-tinselling Trudy, always trouble that one, and a great lover of sparkle!

There was leaping, stepping, ouches and ooohs. A few ribald whispers of who could put their paw where and at least one nasty annoyed hiss. The star was passed gingerly up and there was wobbling. Socks had to detach himself to turn off the lights.

'Eyes closed now, I hear them' he whispered and the excited whispering stopped. The room went dark.

A key turned in the look and 'ready, steady....eyes open' All the kittens opened their eyes fully the light canting off them to glow in the dark room.

Their parents gasped and one of the babies cooed delight. The cat-tree was in effect. A tall tower of black kittens, and the tabby who insisted on joining in. But they'd sooted him up so he matched! Eyes bright and a star held high at the top.

Everyone was impressed and gathered to praise the clever kittens for their spectacle.

Then Puds sneezed and the 'tree' wobbled. Kittens leapt the falling timber and parents caught their flailing offspring. There were scuffs, laughter, cursing and a few cries. Puds got a well deserved bop on the nose.

Christmas. Ten weeks to perfect it. But fun for a Halloween shock.
