There was much giggling as they left Will on the mound’s grassy slope in a thin white shift with flowers threading his hair and much the worse for drink. The night was still mild and Will lay there gazing up at the stars, smiling, watching as some fell in streaks across the sky. They’d promised that he’d gain his true love or enjoy lust’s satisfaction before morning and he was drunk enough to believe the Fairies’ promises.
Llewellyn, the brawny smith; gathered him up, kissed and called him daft, before stealing away to bed with him; both promises coming true.
