I'm sure that their parents are SOOOO proud of them.
Fund raisers you probably don’t want to attend. ANYTHING where the Saginaw High School cheerleaders provide the liquid refreshments.

Saginaw High cheerleaders punished over urine-tainted drinks
A handful of Saginaw High School cheerleaders have been disciplined for giving teammates sodas mixed with urine.
District officials said at least two girls got in-school suspensions and others lesser punishments, but they would not specify how many students were involved. The girls will not be allowed to participate in cheerleading events through the end of the school year but will be allowed to participate next school year.
A parent whose daughter drank the urine-tainted beverage said those involved should be permanently removed from the team.
"They shouldn't be allowed to represent Saginaw," said the father, who did not want to be identified to protect his daughter's identity.
District spokeswoman Kristin Courtney said Principal Ric Canterbury followed district policy and the school's cheerleading constitution in deciding punishment.
The incident occurred during a basketball game last winter, the parent said. He said at least one cheerleader urinated into a cup and then mixed the urine into drinks bought at a nearby restaurant. Other cheerleaders encouraged her to give the tainted drinks to teammates at the game, the parent said.
When the girls drinking the sodas noticed an unusual taste, they were told that it was from a tart candy mixed into the drink, he said.
"The girls said they were just joking around," the father said. "It's not a good joke to me."
In March, the cheerleaders told others what they had done, according to the parent. Courtney said campus officials heard rumors and began investigating.
Cheerleading sponsor Lea Cochrane declined to comment, referring questions to Courtney, who would not say whether it involved the varsity or junior varsity squad.
The cheerleading constitution states that team members could be removed if they are expelled, placed at the Alternative Discipline Center, assigned to in-school suspension more than once or suspended more than once. The district's student code of conduct allows administrators to take into account a student's discipline history and other factors when deciding punishment.
"Discipline will be correlated to the seriousness of the offense, the student's age and grade level, the frequency of misbehavior, the student's attitude, the effect of the misconduct on the school environment, and statutory requirements," the code reads.
The code also states that students who engage in conduct that would be punishable as a felony must be assigned to the district's Disciplinary Alternative Education Program. The father questioned whether the girls' actions could be seen as tampering with a consumer product, a felony.
He said his family is not pursuing criminal charges.
"She's already been a victim once. If I go and push [charges], that would make her a victim twice" by having singled her out, he said.

... i'm starting to realize why the highschools on TV are so disorganized and 'unrealistic'... i'm just not used to it.

Interesting that a man doing something like that at a grocery to baked goods was arrested but these girls get off with .. pretty much nothing.
Texas and sports.. hmm I was raised up north and it's been a while since I lived there but this ... *sighs*
Am waiting for the outcry in the letters to the editor page to see what locals really think of this.

But not just that, but like... the bullying! you see on the news about kids killing themselves for being bullied all the time and you see that like...most of it happened IN school... here? bullying gets you SUSPENDED. just NAME CALLING gets you ISS. Fighting gets you arrested and your parents have to go pick you up THEN bring you back to get punished at school the next day. I had a friend who got ISS for calling someone an asshole in the lunch line, even though he was joking. down here in redneck central, they take shit SERIOUS. Like... you're never outside of student supervision... well you MIGHT get away with no teachers seeing you between classes, but then you gotta be fast because the on-break teachers have to patrol the halls and shit... they have people who stay in the bathrooms to make sure nothing goes down in there too.
The urine in the sodas would SO get caught. Even the precious cheerleaders weren't alone long enough to do that and if they DID get away with it, when they got found out... oh damn, there would be HELL to pay. Like i said, that would at the LEAST be bullying and BAM, you're looking at anything from expulsion (suspension at least, and when you're suspended you cant make up the shit you miss so your grade is FUCKED) to criminal charges and Crossroads.

Am really surprised that there wasn't an arrest. The televised media has mentioned it for 2 days now. Waiting interestedly for what the letters to the editor will say and if the public outcry will change the punishments. It could be that the girls are from influential families. *shrugs*
We're having a few area odd occurrences like this. This place is *shakes head* .. I'm definitely not a prude but this is ridiculous and it's in God fearing, Republican, Bible thumping Belt Texas.
Fine for Public Nudity at Dealey Plaza, Dallas

Erykah Badu will receive a citation for disorderly conduct for stripping naked while filming a video in the Dallas plaza where John F. Kennedy was assassinated, The Associated Press reported.
Ms. Badu, a Dallas native, filmed the video for her song “Window Seat” in Dealey Plaza on March 13. In it she walks through a crowd, casually taking off an item of clothing until she is naked. The video, which recently went viral, ends with the sound of a gunshot and Ms. Badu falling to the ground. Though she was not cited at the time of filming, Sgt. Warren C. Mitchell of the Dallas police said on Friday that a witness had complained. “After much discussion, we feel that these charges best fit her conduct,” Sgt. Mitchell said. “She disrobed in a public place without regard to individuals and small children who were close by.” The citation carries a fine of up to $500. Ms. Badu, who has said she was inspired by a video in which the Brooklyn indie rock duo Matt & Kim shed their clothes in Times Square, said on “The Wanda Sykes Show” over the weekend that her point had been “grossly misunderstood” and that the “Window Seat” video was a tribute to Kennedy.

Fresh urine is actually sterile. An old backpacking trick -- if your buddy gets gashed open and you don't have anything sterile to wash the wound out with, you urinate on it. The chances of someone catching something from ingesting urine, unless it'd been sitting around for quite a while, is so far as I know very remote, to be conservative.
That said, urine is still socially disgusting in our culture and what they did was incredibly nasty and demeaning to the victims. I agree that the punishment was far too light, especially considering the season they've been banned from participating in is over already. [eyeroll] Wow, yeah, that'll teach 'em. :P

If the person is healthy, if the person isn't taking anything that is harmful that would be passed out in the urine, it is sterile inside the body. The first part of the stream flushes the bacteria that accumulate in the ureatha which is why specimens for physicals are supposed to be midstream. This is also supposing that the person is hygenically clean and there's no fecal contamination.
Probably not anything to worry about as you said but disgusting in all the ways we see it so.

Think there should have been a few arrests personally. This is so much worse than graffiti on a school bus. It counts as assault in my opinion.

here we don't have cheerladers and no futbol teams in highschool XD, but kids can be naughty in any situation and punishment should be adecuated to the seriousness of the damage done
maybe there was no phisical damage for the ones who drank but they surely has to feel humilliated and disgusted knowing now what happened... i think that kind of damage can be sometimes worse
i hope the public opinion could change the punishment for a real one

Why the local cops haven't gotten involved, I am not sure.
