Taking Steps: Date by Appointment Part 21

Continues from Part 20

A person could get sick of beef, he thought after the third day of steak, bloody steak. He liked medium well done steak but Sonya encouraged him to have rare and between them settled on medium, not medium rare because his idea of medium and her idea of medium didn’t agree. So he insisted on his medium well and got medium. Vampires are opinionated and stubborn, which came as no surprise having lived with Connell, but Sonya’s mission was him and he was never more glad that Stephen would be there with him in Connell’s regard at the end of this. He wondered if he had telephone privileges so he could call home. Maybe if he called during the day when Connell was asleep they wouldn’t mind.

Vampire spit really did the trick, inwardly Everett giggled at the rhyme. His injuries were healing faster than what was usual for him and the lassitude from his blood loss was gone which was probably due to his body’s blood production problem. He’d asked Sonya and been told that when his red blood cell count was elevated enough the Donation clinic would appreciate his contribution and she brought up that she could continue the licking that he seemed to enjoy so much to add the enhanced flavor to his donation. He would of course be compensated for his donation, not as much as if he’d had a donation ‘date’ but more than a regular human style donation. She didn’t advise that he engage with one of his required hostings while Connell’s marks were so noticeable as, Everett added another attribute to his vampire knowledge of attributes, ‘her people’ were competitive and things could get out of control. He sighed, the time for him to, he rolled his eyes, play donor to a diner was more rapidly approaching than he wanted.

I wonder if my time with Sonya counts as my female vampire? He asked himself and then asked Sonya.

“No dear, a ‘date’ is a full blown,” she smiled fangs showing, “event involving blood and sex. Though both you and I enjoy our time together such as it is, there’s no real sex involved to fully flavor your blood and I’m not feeding. The Council wants you to experience other vampires so that you can enter into your consort relationship with the knowledge that Connell is who you want and that there won’t be any ‘if only’ problems afterwards. We don’t want any duelings at dusk because you find yourself attracted to someone else.”

“But … even people in love sometimes find after a time that they’ve grown apart.”

“Page 29, dear. A vampire when he bonds maintains touch with the mind of his consort and ensures that the emotional wandering of affection can be guided back to its rightful and original form.”

“I read that but,” how to phrase this so as not to cause offense, “isn’t that the same as mind control?”

“No, that is viewing what the problem is that could cause the emotional straying and seeing what can be done to amend the situation. It’s like talking things over before the thorn is perceived by the consort. Often all that’s required is a romantic interlude and frank expressions of love for the human individual. More human marriages would continue in a loving manner if humans had this ability. Connell wouldn’t be so attached to you if there wasn’t an emotional aspect that is probably love on both your sides. The reason why he introduced you to his consort, Stephen, is because he needed to assess if you and Stephen could love each other and him. He’s very strong, Connell. There’s talk that it’s possible he’ll be on the Council one day. But you need not concern yourself with that, that could be a long time from now and makes no difference to your relationship with him and his Stephen. Still it is something to keep in the back of your mind. If you find you don’t want to be exclusive, as a consort, or with Connell, there are other options. The present Council will assist you whatever your decision. Bloodshed is wasteful and attracts attention and bodies are so difficult to do away with.” Sonya gave a wide smile as his eyes rounded, “Joking. You are way too valuable as a donor however you decide. A dissatisfied donor is a sour tasting donor and drugs taint the blood, page 4 dear.”

“Oh. Yeah. Okay. I think I’ll read.” He held up the manual, “I’m on page 58 and I’ve got,” he ruffled the pages, “only a couple hundred more.”

“You should but it’s time for your bath and tongue washing.”

Everett looked at Sonya’s face and her smile, “you really like licking me, don’t you?”

“It’s one of my pleasanter duties and you give off pheromones that are divine to scent. I can see why Connell wants you even if your personality and blood weren’t attractive. He did tell you that you were also important for another reason?”

“He was kind of busy staking his claim,” Sonya gave a fake shudder and he smiled, “sorry, page 57 the history section.” She nodded in approval at him, “I’m surprised he got around to telling me about needing to come here, though it was Stephen who told me what he’d had to do so it wasn’t a total surprise.” He fluttered his hand in a get on with it motion.

“There are many couples who want children but for some reason the husband can’t produce what’s needed or there is no husband. The families are carefully vetted for their ability to care for a child by one of our social workers which includes their emotional attachment to each other and how a child will change that dynamic. Your sperm would be supplied to give them a child to care for and love. The hope is that any children that result will have your ability to overproduce blood.”

“Your Council wants to breed people like me! What will happen to the children if they don’t want to or can’t overproduce blood like me?”

“Nothing. They live their lives with their parents. If they are like you, then we do what we have done before, put out an advertisement for donors.”

“Did you know about me before this?! Lured me into this situation?”

“No. You were a complete surprise and gift when Dr. Gordon contacted us about your medical problem. Couple that with you’re sensible and not emotionally disturbed that there are people like us living amongst you …” She spread her hands, “a gift. Now about that bath.” She smiled, “I’d make a totally vulgar tongue movement like a cat licking but we’re both better than that and I’m not a pervert.”

Everett grinned at her, “No, you just like to lick men’s assholes and other parts of their bodies.”

“Not just any man. Remember I prefer women, but for you I’ll make an exception.”

“Riiiight.”

“Indeed,” she responded primly and then grinned at him. “Sir, your bath awaits. Get naked.”

“How is the sperm collected?” he asked walking backwards toward the bathroom.

“Quite pleasurably I would imagine. During your consort ceremony the best man gives you a blow job and swallows your ejaculate. Your consort fucks you and gives you an orgasm to remember, touching your mind and sharing his feelings as he does so. In a way the best man is sucking the consort too since mentally you’ll be joined.” She recalled herself, “watch the chair, it’s behind you to your left. Veer right. When you’re donating sperm you’ll wear a condom for the first orgasm when you’re most likely to be of optimum sperm count and that will be collected for the donation.” She shrugged, “Don’t know the frequency and the Good Doctor will want to know about your past history like when symptoms of your condition first manifested.”

“So I’ll have kids but not raise them.”

“Yes.”

“Then I’ve got to make something of my life so, if they ever find out about me, they’ll be proud I’m their biological dad.”

“They’d be proud anyway. You’re a kind, sweet person. Level headed and many other things.”

“You’re not just saying that to get into my pants?”

“You’ve got something in your pants that I do want but you’ve still got them on and you need to bathe before I can have it.”

“Right. I should do that then,” and they ended up grinning at each other before she picked him up and carried him into the bathroom over her shoulder to Everett’s very convincing, “Eeep.”

Hmmm So calculating these vampires I'm not entirely comfortable with the dynamic.

Apex predators being as human as possible.
If Sonya isn't careful she's going to be fulfilling Everett's dance card. She's not reading his mind and she's safe because she doesn't want him but she kind of becoming a friends with benefits. It just takes one little nip of Everett.

Hmm probably why I don't like Vampire fics more. Always the predator/cattle aspect. Not that Weres are generally fluffy ;)

You've got all your politics/machinations worked out! *impressed*

It is seeming to fall into place, the politics and machinations.
The plunny in the background floats these things up to my conscious mind and I have 'Oh, yes that'll work moments'.

You've got to wonder about what they taught Sonya in nursing school . . .

*grins* Sonya in nursing school... HA School period.

Where do little vampires come from and they must have instruction of some sort. If consorts have their manuel then fledgling vampires must have at least something and probably more just something.

If there's blood, fresh sweetened red blood, and it's already in your mouth, you're going to stop with just one sip or spit it out? It's called chumming with sharks and why else are vampires trying to entice forbidden anything penetrative.
