The Night Watch

The Rijks museum in Holland had an idea: Let's bring the art to the people and then, hopefully, they will come to see more - at the museum. They took one Rembrandt painting from 1642, Night Watch and brought to life the characters in it, placed them in a busy mall and the rest you can see for yourself!

That's a fun way to get people interested.

That's a very famous painting. It also has two movies about it. One that's all the conspiracies that came out in the painting (The way the shadow of the the front guy's hand falls across the guy in gold's crotch means they were sleeping together or at least lust and who exactly the little girl is. With the Bilbo/Watson actor as the artist) and the other a more historical view of the pictures which pretty much debunks the reasons the artist would be angry enough to put conspiracies in it in the first place. I saw a video about them by some guy who had spent his childhood in the Netherlands.

Interesting. I see some Goggling in my future about this painting then.

Want to know how they practiced for the swinging across the atrium using ropes.

'Why do you have a rope in the bedroom?'
'Ignore it, its for this stunt we're doing'
'Is there something I should know?'
'Noooo, just the bed makes for a soft landing, I need to practise supporting my weight, swinging...'
'Swinging?!'
'On the rope. Stop looking at me like that'
'Well seeing as its there, over the bed like..'
'What?'
'Just thinking you could practice what was it? supporting yourself?'
'Keep talking'
'Supporting yourself over my cock'
'Kinky!'
'That's not a no'

*LAUGHING*

That isn't a no. Gotta build up those arm muscles. Nothing encourages repetitive flexing of biceps like positive influx of endorphins brought on by prostate massages done several times a day and night. Am sure it would top pole dancing for the health benefits alone.

The museum had been closed for renovations for a while. This was a 'subtle' reminder they were on the verge of opening again.

It's an impressive painting!

Lucky lucky you.
Watched the 'how it was made' behind this event. They all spoke not English *grins* It was interesting too. Didn't understand a thing that was said.
I love this 'subtle' reminder means of advertising the reopening.
