A Left-hand thing is Sinister

Left-handed Oath

A left-handed oath is a statement or promise that not considered to be binding. In courtrooms, before witnesses take the stand to offer testimony, they are asked to "Please raise your right hand to take the oath." Left-handed people have to use this ritual otherwise their oath would be considered left-handed or illegitimate.

So... if your right hand or right arm has been amputated for medical reasons following an accident, you can't testify?
