Deep in the mood or Andy, Simon didn’t really want to be distracted but he paused, his familiar senses quivering and adjusting his hands under Andy’s cheeks stood to better survey the greenery around them. To his credit he didn’t lose his rhythm and Andy enjoyed the change in position judging by his whimpered moans.

A small young voice asked, “whatcha doing, mister?” and was answered by another snickering voice, “nothing you couldn’t scry in a mirror if you knew where to look.”

“Kittens! Remember we’re exploring and studying the wildlife. That’s not the wildlife we’re studying.”

“But Papa Brian….”

“First one to find a field mouse, kill it, and bring it to me or Papa Brian wins,” an adult, obviously feline familiar, called out.

Kittens scattered in all directions. “Distraction Brian, and as soon as the first mouse is brought in we’re going home where we’re letting Balthazaar have custody and you and I are going to do that,” Duke’s chin jerked at the pair who’d now retaken up activities behind a tree thinking themselves safe.

“Mister, why are you dancing like that?” the original young voice could be heard.

“Hector! Do you want to win or not?”

“I do Papa Duke but a mouse is hiding some place around the naked people, either that or,” little eyes narrowed suspiciously, “or the one with his legs up off the ground is making those squeaking noises.”

Simon snorted and dropped his head onto Andy’s shoulder. “Love, stop misleading the kitten.” He kindly looked down at the kitten, “Nothing to see,” he paused, “or find here kitten. Off with you.”

With a disgruntled sniff Hector ran off into the bushes but later he told tales of everything he’d seen to his siblings because with scrying one didn’t get up close details.
